A crochet mandala is a flat, round design of colourful rounds β like a doily, but bold. This one has 10 rounds in five colours: a double crochet centre, clusters, petals, chain loops, a solid double crochet round, shells and a picot edge. It's about 10 inches across in worsted cotton and makes a striking wall piece in an embroidery hoop.

Common questions
How do you keep a crochet mandala flat?
Check each round lies flat before moving on. Ruffling means too many stitches or loose tension; cupping means too few. Blocking fixes small differences.
How do you change colours in a mandala?
Fasten off the old colour at the end of the round and join the new one in a different space, so the joins don't line up. See how to change colours.
How big is a 10-round mandala?
About 10 inches in worsted cotton on a 4.5 mm hook. In DK on 3.5 mm it's about 8 inches.
