In this post
A crochet soap saver is a small mesh pouch that holds a bar of soap. You use it like a washcloth: the open mesh lathers the soap and gently exfoliates, and the pouch holds even thin slivers that would otherwise slip down the drain. Hang it by its drawstring to dry. It's a 30-minute make in cotton.

Which yarn?
| Yarn | Feel | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Cotton | Soft, gentle | Face and body |
| Linen or cotton-linen | Firmer, exfoliating | Body, hands |
| Jute or sisal | Rough, very exfoliating | Feet, kitchen hand soap |
Avoid acrylic — it doesn't dry well and can hold bacteria.
Care
- Rinse and hang it to dry between uses.
- Wash the pouch weekly with your towels (take the soap out first).
- Replace it after a few months, or compost it if it's 100% cotton.

Common questions
What is a soap saver for?
It holds a bar of soap (or leftover slivers) so you can lather and scrub with it, and it hangs to dry so the soap doesn't turn mushy in a dish.
What yarn is best for a crochet soap saver?
Cotton for gentle use, linen or jute for more exfoliation. Avoid acrylic.
Can I put soap ends in it?
Yes. Fill it with small leftover pieces; they press together into a usable bar as you use it.
Gentle cotton or scrubby jute? 🧼
