A crochet cherry keychain is two small stuffed balls on a chain stem, hung from a keyring. Each cherry is a 12-stitch sphere — 6 sc, increase to 12, three straight rounds, decrease — about an inch across in DK cotton. A 12-chain stem joins them, with a little leaf at the fold. It takes about 20 minutes, which is why cherries are the classic crochet market and gift charm.

Selling tip

Cherry charms are quick to make in batches: crochet all the red balls first, then all the stems. Twenty minutes each means about three an hour. See more ideas in crochet projects to sell and the full keychain collection.

Make a fruit set with the crochet strawberry, or clip it to a phone strap.

What yarn is best for crochet keychains?

Cotton, especially mercerised cotton. It's firm, doesn't fuzz from being carried around and keeps its colour.

How do I make the stem stiff?

Crochet the chain around a short piece of green floral wire, or work slip stitch back along it.
