A crochet dog is built from simple shapes: a 30-stitch ball for the head, a small cup for the snout, long tubes for floppy ears, and a pear-shaped sitting body. The ears and snout give the breed: long ears and a brown-and-white coat make a beagle, all golden is a lab, white with black spots a dalmatian. This puppy is about 5 inches tall sitting.

Common questions

How do you make floppy ears on a crochet dog?

Crochet a small tube of 9 stitches, don't stuff it, flatten it and sew only the top edge to the head so the ear hangs down.

Can I make a crochet dog that looks like my pet?

Yes. Match the coat colours, the ear shape (floppy, pointed or folded) and add spots or patches. It makes a lovely memorial or birthday gift.
