A crochet duck is two balls — a big one for the body and a smaller one for the head — plus a flat oval bill, two wings and feet. The bill is the key detail: start with a short chain, work around both sides of it, and flatten it so it sticks straight out. It's an easy beginner amigurumi that takes about 2 hours, and in chenille it becomes the squishy "emotional support duck" that went viral.

Common questions

How do you crochet a duck bill?

Chain 5, work around both sides of the chain to make an oval, work 2 more rounds and flatten it without stuffing. Sew it on so it sticks straight out from the face.

Is a crochet duck good for beginners?

Yes. It's two balls and a few small flat parts — a great second project after a simple ball.
