A crochet jellyfish is a stuffed dome with a ruffled rim and dangling tentacles. The dome is a 24-stitch half sphere closed with a flat bottom; a round worked in the back loops leaves front loops for a ruffle; and the curly tentacles are chains with 3 single crochet in every chain, which makes them twist into corkscrews.

Common questions

How do you make curly tentacles in crochet?

Chain the length you want, then work 3 single crochet into each chain. The extra stitches can't lie flat, so the strip twists into a corkscrew.

How many tentacles should a crochet jellyfish have?

Six to eight looks full. Mix curly and straight ones in different lengths.

Is a crochet jellyfish safe for babies?

Use embroidered eyes instead of safety eyes, sew the tentacles very securely and keep them shorter than 6 inches for young children.
