A crochet AirPods case is a tiny oval-bottomed pouch. You start with a chain the length of the case's base, work around both sides of it to make an oval, then work straight rounds up to the hinge. A drawstring or a flap closes it, and a keyring clip at the top hangs it on your bag. In DK cotton on a 3 mm hook it takes about 45 minutes.

The cozy

  1. Rnd 1: Ch 11. Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, sc in the next 8, 3 sc in the last ch. Along the other side, sc in the next 8, 2 sc in the first ch. (22)
  2. Rnd 2: Sc in the back loop only of each st — this makes a crisp bottom edge. (22)
  3. Rnds 3–9: Sc in each st. Test the fit — the case should slide in snugly. (22)
  4. Rnd 10 (eyelets): (Sc, ch 1, skip 1) around. (11 sc + 11 ch-1)
  5. Rnd 11: Sc in each sc and each ch-1 space. Sl st and fasten off. (22)

The chain is always half the stitch count: chain 10 gives sc in the next 7 on each side, and 20 stitches.

Close and clip

  1. Drawstring: Ch 50, thread it through the Rnd 10 eyelets and knot the ends with a bead.
  2. Clip loop: At one side, ch 8 and sl st into the same st. Attach a keyring clip.
  3. Flap instead: Work 5 rows on 10 stitches at the back, decreasing 1 at each end of the last 2 rows, and sew a snap under the tip.

Make it cute

  • Strawberry: Red body, white French knots for seeds, and a green 5-point leaf from the crochet strawberry.
  • Cat ears: Two ears (ch 4, sc, hdc, dc in the chain) sewn to the top edge, and embroidered whiskers.
  • Frog: Green body with two bobble eyes, like the crochet frog.

Make a full matching set with the phone case and cable ties.

Common questions

Can I charge AirPods inside a crochet case?

Wireless charging usually works through a thin cotton cozy. For a cable, open the drawstring or leave a gap at the bottom for the port.

Will a crochet cover fit AirPods Pro?

Yes — use 22 stitches (chain 11). AirPods Pro cases are wider than AirPods 4, which take 20.

Will the cozy stretch out?

Cotton holds its shape well. If it gets loose, wash and dry it on warm and it will shrink back slightly.
