A crochet Kindle sleeve is a flat half double crochet rectangle folded into an envelope. Make it half an inch wider than the e-reader, fold it so the pocket is as deep as the device plus a little ease, and finish the top with a pointed flap and a button. Half double crochet in cotton is light, doesn't stretch and builds quickly.

Common questions

How big should a Kindle sleeve be?

About half an inch wider and half an inch deeper than the e-reader, so it slides in easily but doesn't fall out when held upside down.

Which stitch is best for an e-reader case?

Half double crochet is light and quick. Moss or lemon peel stitch gives more padding if the Kindle shares a bag with keys.

Can I use this pattern for a passport or notebook?

Yes. Measure the item, chain (width + 0.5 in) × 3.5 + 2, and work twice its height in rows.
